The people of Franklin are doing well with this.Good for them. I’m a bit more concerned with the very opposite situation a few miles to the East in Murfreesboro.People there. seem to be committed to bliterating/developing what remains of the Stones RIver battlefield (outside the park boundary) as quickly as possible. The park contains only about 1/6 of the actual battlefield. Very sad. In a few weeks will be the 150 anniversary. I doubt that much will be said about battlefield preservation.
I’m sorry to hear that Stones River isn’t being taken care of. I think people sometimes tend to assume that if there’s a battlefield park, then the battlefield is forever safe and sound, when in fact parks often include only a portion of the important ground.
